Curriculum
We have to follow the national curriculum. However, we have permission to add additional subjects and employ teaching methodologies, aids and resources of our choice. Currently, we have ten subjects plus several clubs for students' skills development and re-enforcement. You can view our subjects and credits below.
During summer vacation each year, we have curriculum workshop where we review our curriculum and syllabus both internally and with specialist on curriculum.
First, we write down the Lesson Scope and Sequence for each subjects which are, in other words, lesson topics. Then we identify relevant concepts for each topics. For example, several concepts can be categorized under the topic of 'Family', such as vocabularies, family members, roles of parents/children and so on. Therefore, we need to decide which concepts are more relevant for a certain grade and how many periods we can allocate for those concepts with the Subject Credit Points, the texts and resources available to us, the Academic Calendar, School Days and Periods Calculation sheet on the table. After the decision has been made, the teachers plan the lessons around the concepts. We focus on conceptual knowledge and skills.
